Woke up at 3am to a massive storm outside. Wind and rain, like we rarely see at home. Couldn't get back to sleep for ages, think I listened to it until about 4.30. I've found the website for the Vanuatu department of meteorology, which is a good resource for cyclone information. If you wanna check out the latest warning, follow this. http://www.meteo.gov.vu/TropicalCyclones/Warning/tabid/172/Default.aspx
According to the coordinates on the warning, the cyclone should arrive here around 5pm and hang around for 24-36 hours!
So we've cancelled our planned tour for today and are heading into town after breakfast for provisions (not really, just wanna get some shopping in before everything is locked down, and we wanna get more cheap movies, I think we'll need them).
We have a traditional Melanesian feast at the hotel tonight, and that will go ahead. There's not alot of information coming from the hotel staff, they may be instructed not to say anything. We're not sure if we'll stay in our room, or be evacuated to a shelter.
Will keep you updated as well as I can, but if the wifi goes out, so will our communications.
It's certainly going to be a holiday to remember!
