We've just had the most amazing morning, swimming and snorkeling at Hideaway Island. I especially liked snorkeling along while holding hands with the kids and pointing out new, bigger, more colourful or beautiful fish, and then giving the thumbs up to say we'd seen it.
We visited the worlds only underwater post office and David and Shiann posted a waterproof postcard to us so that we can have it as a souvenir when we get home. We had a tour on a glass bottom boat and fed the fish. We also had a snorkeling safari where they take you out to the reef further out and snorkel and feed the fish. The amazing variety of fish mean that you could spend hours snorkeling and still not see them all. We had an underwater camera, and are hoping that at least some of the photos turn out ok. The island is also home to a multitude of hermit crabs, which was pretty cool. The first one we found, I picked up and it promptly crawled out of it's shell and tried to run away without it. Shiann had alot of fun playing with them while we waited for our boat home.
When we got back to the resort, I realised that despite putting on copious amounts of sunscreen on my butt, and backs of my legs, I got sunburnt there. I now have a bright red bikini mark on my bum. How embarrassment!
We're thinking tomorrow we might head to the Mele cascades waterfall and the Secret Garden, spend the day in the rainforest.
