Well, we got home from the hospital at about 2.30am after Shiann received a litre of saline via IV. The ambulance driver, who was about 5 foot nothing and about as round, with the biggest bulbous nose I've ever seen, drove us back to the hotel in the ambulance. So Shiann had her first IV cannulation, fluids and ambulance ride in Vanuatu.
We slept a bit when we got home, Shiann was still up to the toilet quite a bit. At about 9 we all got up and went to breakfast. Shiann ate one and a half slices of thick toast with vegemite and a couple of cups of black tea. After breakfast the boys went into town to get Panadol, maxalon and Gatorade and the girls slept. After their trip to town, the boys headed to the Cascade waterfalls.
Shiann and I woke about 1.30ish and had some noodles for lunch. She's still very tired, the illness has really taken it's toll on her frail little body, but she's not 'pre-comatose' tired anymore. She's now alert and very responsive, but just wants to rest. I've painted her nails for her and taken out her braids, resulting in some super fizzy hair. I'm going to give her a little mini facial soon.
I wonder how the boys are going, they've been instructed to take lots photos so we can see how beautiful the falls are.
So it hasn't exactly been the holiday we had imagined, but with any luck we'll get some more fun activities in over the next couple of days. I'm just so thankful that Shiann is ok. And that despite the third world conditions, buildings and equipment, the care and treatment that Shiann received at the Vila Central Hospital was first rate. I don't think she could of been treated any faster or more efficiently anywhere else in the world.
Anyway, hopefully tomorrow I'll have more interesting stories about adventure and fun. :)
With love from Vanuatu

Mel Euhus Well think of it this way, it was an adventure, and you have a good excuse to go back again to catch the stuff you missed this time! Only next time, TAKE ME!!! :) Glad Shiann is feeling better x
Nicole Doherty Aww poor Shiann! Glad she was looked after well and is recovering! Tell her if it helps, when we went to the falls 5 years ago it was quite a hike up to them and then when we got there we realised there was only a tiny trickle anyway!! I'm loving seeing all your pics of Vanuatu though, it brings back lots of memories!
