Day 503, 28 Oct '15, Boat Cruise with "Captain Sugar" & BBQ Lunch, Fethiye and surrounding islands.
Today's adventure was complete luck. It's the end of the end of the tourist season here in Fethiye and we headed out on the very last cruise of the season. Our owner here in Fethiye highly recommended Captain Sugar and his boat (and TripAdvisor agreed fervently). We had no idea what to expect when we went to meet the boat at Calis Beach at 9.30 am - as it turns out, not a beach. The boats are docked along a canal and from there head out into the sparkling big blue. The air is now so fresh in the mornings that all the locals were bundled up - we even took jackets "just in case". As it turned out the sun shone like a demon all day - and even though the breeze was cool, the water was still around 27 degrees - so incredibly warm, clear and clean. There were only 18 of us on board so loads of room to spread out and sunbake (or hide in the shade in my case). The cruise basically involved motoring to a gorgeous sheltered bay or cove, anchoring, jumping in, swimming about, skylarking and then repeat x 4! Oh! and lunch in the middle cooked on a charcoal BBQ on the back of the boat. After all the above mentioned activity and the sea air - we were starving. We docked back in the canal about 5 pm - huge day out. Must admit we could barely keep our eyes open. Captain Sugar himself drove us back to our resort and it was dinner and bed by 8 pm. Party animals - that's us. Rest day mañana then we're doing our other big day out - Saklikent Gorge, Tlos ruins, Abandoned Kayakoy and Yakapark Trout Farm. Thinking it could be another early night on Friday!
