Wow so this is a city! Massive car congestion on the roads bumper to bumper! Packed out public transport! Both a must for a checklist of a city, as far as im concerned this is the only place in NZ that deserves to be called a city! After making it out to my hostel in Parnel I went back into town with some unfriendly bus drivers and made my way to the sky tower for a nice sunset and some amazing views by night!
The next day it was off to a volcanic island called Rangitoto island. It erupted 600 years ago and is NZ youngest volcano. I made to the crater and had lunch at the top, i met an american and we went and explored the lav caves! The were pretty cool and a bit tight at times but it was all good! It was then back otthe mainland for some dinner.
The next day I got to sail on an americas cup yacht which was pretty cool, it was a '95 boat abd it took plenty of qwork to get thr sails up and going. Plenty of grnding and i was also a sewer rat, where we got below deck and pulled down the massive kite we had out to catch some wind. It was awesome and I couldnt believe how much of an angle the boat gets on wen it turns, felt like u were going to fall out! That night i met up with Chris and Maire from the Milford Track and wwe had some local thai on the beach with some wine and threw the frisbee til the sun went down! It was very relaxing and made me quite tired!
After such a long time travelling and not really having a rest day it is now offto Bay of Islands (Paihia) for some days of nothing by the beach!
