Awoke to another windy Mykonos day ready to allow the "holiday" part of this trip begin! After a lovely buffet breakfast overlooking the pool and Ornos, walked down the road and caught the bus into Mykonos town. Cost EUR1.60 each one way, took less than 15 minutes and operates hourly till mid afternoon then half hourly. Avoided the wind as much as possible weaving our way along the tiny streets lined with restaurants, jewellery shops, souvenirs and wide array of clothing etc all beautifully white with coloured shutters and balconies. Everything pretty expensive - makes you wonder how they all survive. Walked down to the port area - quite bustling - where we will leave from in a few days time.
Had a coffee and piece of baklava on the waters edge watching a cruise liner negotiate the waves in to port.
Continued our wanderings around to Little Venice and the Windmills - probably the sites for which Mykonos is most famous. Really spectacular! Always a restaurant or bar perched precariously somewhere! Gotta love Europe!!
Raym decided he needed a haircut when we spotted a barber - cant complain at EUR6.00! I didn't mind the opportunity for a bit of window shopping.
By 3.30 pm thought we were ready to head back to our little paradise, after we had found a few of the restaurants that Eleni had recommended, for future reference. Some how managed to find the bus station in time and got off at the shops at Ornos to purchase a few nibblies for by the pool. Not a bad way to spend the rest of the afternoon, preparing for the big decision of the day - where to have dinner?
The decision was back down at Konstantis at Ornos beach. Despite the wind sat at a table on the sand with the almost full moon creating a shimmer across the water as we watched a few yachts and craft bobbing and swaying.
Another beautiful seafood plate in a truly idyllic setting!
