Koh Chang

Well what can I say about koh chang other than it has pretty much just pissed it down since day one!! Admittedly we had a few hours sun on day two which was when we chilled by the pool and tried to get a Trojan tan on but apparently it wasn't meant to be.

We came from Chaing Mai by sleeper bus which meant we had to spend another night in the big BK. a mate of mine Toy was around Bangkok then too so we met up for a few beers. We got a bus from bangers to get to Koh Chang which took 8 hours then another 1 by ferry from Trat.

When we got off the ferry we heard lonely beach was the place for backpackers so we headed there. We got off the taxi and the place was a s***hole! A muddy, messy, s***hole!!! Some girl we got talking to recommended this one place that was 500thb a night with A/C. we checked it out and the room just screamed cockroach. Needless to say we left. Turns out all the rooms/bungalows around lonely beach are all like that, and the area is full of dirtbag backpackers who are happy to stay there. We're better than that, so we stayed at White beach, the expensive area!!

Paddy's palms resort is where we decided to stay and it's a pretty damn smart Irish pub/resort, infact I'm sat on a leather sofa writing this in the bar area now.

They have nice sized rooms, a big bed, A/C, fridge, and a good pool all for 700thb a night (£14). The pub itself is one of the best pubs I've ever been to, it's a proper genuine Irish pub abroad. Free pool, free fuzeball and they serve the best western food I've ever had in Thailand... Roast dinners are better than 90% I've had in England!!

It's not busy at all on the island which is a bit of a disapointment; it is busier on lonely beach where the dirtbags are but still it's not that busy. We spent a bit of a evening over there and it was alright... Nothing more.. Nothing less!!

In conclusion Koh Chang would be brilliant in high season when the suns out and people are in the bars... I'd come back then, and only then!!
