Packed, said goodbye to luggage and boat. Returned 5 minutes later when I realised we had forgotten out hats! Some free time in Puerto Ayora this morning, before getting on the plane to the mainland. Galapagos has been fantastic- good companions on the boat. Peter and his family stating on for another week. Doing the Southern half of the archipelago. Quite happy to have an excuse to come back another time to do this. Quite excited about the amazon

Great morning for insects- thankfully we weren't bitten by any. Scorpion (miniature) crickets, butterfly's. Also tremendous landscape - lava explosions - where hot lava hit cold seawater. Followed, after the usual struggle with wetsuits, by a fantastic snorkel. Rebecca doubled up her suit (wore 2) and wasn't 'cold' for a change. Watched a sea lion play with a shoal of fish- chasing it- but not actually catching any. Beautiful shoals - a watchful pelican observin...

Elizabeth Cove No foot to be set on land today at all.This morning we had a 'panga' ride through the mangrove swamps. Flying fish, frisky turtles, playful sea lions, very few birds (other Han flightless cormorants and penguins). Witnessed first hand the speed and power if penguin poo!

Had a deep water snorkelling experience. Utterly excellent. Swimming with turtles, penguins, rays and an abundance of fish. The single best bit was a terribly playful sea lion. Kept us entertained for more than 20 minutes, posing for photos- he just didn't get the need to slow down. The speed and acrobatics were phenomenal. In the afternoon went for a walk in an area on Isabella where some tortoises 'hang out' whilst they are still young. Not a single individu...
