Met Andy from the mountain bike people today. Made sure everything was ready for the adventure on Saturday. We have our day planned for Cusco exploration. Determined to take it easy to avoid mountain sickness, but have tremendous feeling that we'll just want to keep exploring. Freezing in the shade this morning but boiling in the sunshine. Sun cream and woollies required!

Another sunny morning. Got up relatively early to visit Belen market. A huge sprawling street market that supplies Iquitos with products. Each stall holding one kind of produce, but after 100 fish stalls Oliver was asking if they sell anything else, and they did- poultry,spices,vegetables, fruit, shoes,clothes. There was a whole street of cooked foods. They obviously after for the busy single cook as they did small packages of preprepared mixed vegetables,or just...

Met at the airport by Ricardo, a local taxi driver who 'works' when he can for our hotel. He'll also be our guide on Wednesday for a trip to the sacred valley. The hotel itself is absolutely brill. Like a boutique hotel- in what appears to be a locals only suburb. However, everyone friendly so far. We are all quite tired so it was pizza and bed. The locals are all wrapped up in ski jackets and woollies, as it is their cold season. Feels just like a normal UK summ...
