Well we are on the train to Barcelona. We got up this morning and did a Rick Steves audio tour of Madrid. We bought cookies from cloistered nuns using a lazy susan. We went through the very bright, colourful and new cathedral. We stopped for very good rich porras and chocolate for dipping. We stopped into several local markets. It was a lovely way to spend the morning. I’m so looking forward to Barcelona though.

Today we went to two museums. We went to the Reina Sofia where Guernica is. Pammie did an English project on it, so it was cool. looking at it we saw many details that were not in the photos. We also saw lots of Picasso and Dalí s. After that we went to the Prado museum. It has the older art works. It was good but I would say it was not as good as the Reina Sofia.

This morning we got up and headed to the Palace of Madrid. On our way we stopped at a little cafe and had churros con chocolate. It was much better than the one we had the other night. The Palace was breath taking. It was very grand and the detail in each room was amazing. Pammie wanted to explore more, not just the tourist sections. So today we got up and drove to Córdoba. We saw the Mezquita. It is a huge old mosque that has a catholic cathedral built in the middle of it. It was very cool to see. We then went to the train station. We returned the car and had a long lingering lunch before hopping the high speed train to Madrid. Upon arrival we checked into our Airbnb.
