Today we went to Brisbane!

We got up, got ready, checked out and got the shuttle bus to the transit centre for a two hour wait for the bus to take us to Brisbane. After going on the internet and reading our books the time for waiting was over. We boarded the bus and christina fell straight to sleep, only waking up when the bus driver announced we were entering Brisbane. It was a short journey (around an hour) and we got off the coach in Brisbane transit centre, a multi-storey building for all types of transport: trains, coaches and buses, all of which seemed to be on different levels of the building, and the buses seemed to drive up the building in what looked like a helter skelter type road. Odd!

We then had the 'short' walk to the hostel but up a hill with all our bags no journey seems short. We arrived at our hostel called Banana Benders (for some strange reason) and checked in. Because we were in Brisbane for four days we decided to get organised - we made a shopping list of the lunch and dinners etc we would need plus some washing powder for all the washing - we had plenty! We went to the local supermarket and got all our food, but when we came out it was dark. A huge storm cloud was above us, in the distance you could see the blue sky but the black cloud above us looked very threatening. As the lightning started we hoped we would make it back before the rain, and we did, just, but it was a torrential downpour which meant we spend the rest of the afternoon and evening in the hostel. We went to bed hoping that the weather would clear up tomorrow for two reasons: one, that when we went to the lone pine koala sanctuary the weather would be nice, and two, we could finally do some washing!
