After a few busy days in Bangkok, we decided to take a trip over to Kanchanaburi. We found a perfect looking tour that ticked many of the boxes of things we were keen to experience in Thailand. It turned out to be a two day over night stay, before it brought us back to Bangkok. The tour out lived all expectations and turned into two amazing days.
We set out around 6:30 am and arrived at our first stop around 9:00am at the world war II cemetery. This basically involved thousands of head stones of soldiers from all over the world, who fought and died in the war. We soon moved on to the World War II museum along with the Bridge over the River Kwai, which was spectacular considering its history.
After about an hour or two, exploring the bridge and weighing up whether or not we will be able to do our bungee jumps, we headed to the ranch for our first meal. Our expectations were not high but we were pleasantly surprised. Next on the agenda was a trip down stream on a bamboo raft and an elephant ride. The guides took us where there were no tourists and there were only three of us, which made a change.
Our accommodation for the night was interesting to say the least and full of erm.... character, in the forms of frogs in the toilet, cockroaches on the floor and mouse droppings on the bed. We definitely needed a drink before hitting the sack and had a few beers with the people on the same tour. It was our first proper time to meet people from all corners of the world and turned out to be an interesting night.
