VIVA LAS VEGAS!!! After a car ride full of Sinatra and Elvis, we arrived in Vegas, baby! We promptly celebrated with lunch at an In'n'Out Burger Chain -the best burgers in the west! Their grilled cheese vege burgers are on the "secret menu" (they have a whole other selection of burgers that only locals know about) was DELICIOUS. The US really does have the yummiest fast food....take that as a compliment if you will lol!!!
Well, talk about Sin City!! Las Vegas certainly seems to take its responsibility as the city of legalized prostitution seriously - everywhere we went people were handing John "calling cards", which we did, of course, collect lol! Pornography is sold like newspapers, and I have never seen so many women with dresses cut so very low! There is no denying it, when the sun goes down, and the lights go on, Vegas does have its own unique atmosphere.
On the first night we all got dressed up for our limo ride around town, stopping for the Fremont Street Experience, the neon centre of Vegas (and THATS a lot of lights!!!) We weaved our way through the crowds of tourist, carts selling all sorts of bright and flashing items, and half-naked men (Chippendales). The light and music show on the ceiling had us all dancing to Queens We will rock you and We are the Champions. After a quick tourist pic at the Vegas welcome sign, we were dropped off at the famous Bellagio Casino, to watch the dancing fountains. Again, most of us were too busy showing off some 50s dance skills (?) to actually watch the show, but the mood was fantastic.
The next night was the best!!! After eating a an all-american diner, where Cookie was serenaded by a big girl with a feather boa named Barbie for his fake-birthday, Johnny and I left to see Cirque du Soleil's Love at the Mirage Casino. Well, I have never seen a show quite like it! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, and caught myself with my mouth wide open in amazement quite a few times too! Everything about it - the music, the costumes, the acrobats, the COLOUR was soooooo cool!!! The choreography was so powerful, it completely engulfed me, and before I knew it the one and a half hours were finished! I am sooo glad we went to see it- the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary (and no, Mum & Dad, we didn't get married lol)
