This is the final stop on our journey through Japan, as we fly out tomorrow to Da Nang, Vietnam, via Hong Kong. Fukuoka is apparently known as the home of ramen, so Troy wanted to make sure we got our last fix before leaving. The ramen experiences didn't disappoint as we visited an area in the Canal City mall called "Ramen Stadium" which gave you options of 8 different styles from all over Japan! Although we weren't there for long, Fukuoka certainly seems like a foodie paradise, with a lot of international options as well. (It should be said that we have had Indian food a few times in Japan, as we consider this to be the comfort food from home!) Other than eating and strolling through shops, we spent time organizing and getting ready for the beginning of southeast Asia! And so as we leave Japan, here are a few of our favourite things...(yes, sing it)
Troy:
-ramen in all forms, sushi, the friendliness of the locals, amazing city life married with the beautiful rural experiences, the attention paid to retro video gaming, and although he didn't purchase anything, the shopping possibilities were exciting, and if we come again, he will bring an extra empty suitcase.
Clare:
-the warm nature of just about everyone we interacted with, the efficiency of the cities, all Japanese gardens, the relevance of green tea, the affordability of the local "fast food" restaurants (for rice, noodles, etc.), the impression that there is quiet, respectful air about every space here, whether it be in the city, or in the mountains.
It feels a bit emotional to leave - it has surpassed our expectations in every way. Arigatou gozaimasu, Japan, for everything.

Kristen Garvin Sounds wonderful! Your descriptions of your favourite things brought happy tears to my eyes. You are so fortunate to have this experience!
Clare Hansen Kris, there were really so many things to love. And the karaoke opportunities were just screaming for MSC to be there together! Thank you for all the kind words! Yes, every day we feel grateful for the experiences!
Caitlin "the attention paid to retro video gaming"... ha!
Clare Hansen Cait, it was serious stuff! I really wanted to buy a stuffed yoshi, but somehow I couldn't visualize where it would find a home in my backpack.
