So after being released from confinement at finavon castle, we went and took in dunatar castle. It is a big beautiful ruined castle on the top of a promontory with cliffs on all sides. It was wonderful.
We then went to drum castle. It looked like a castle but only the tower portion of the castle was old and defensive. The rest was test was a 17th century mansion. Still cool but just alright. Lots of telling us about what the laird did here and there and but I can only take so much talk about old dead guys that didn't have any huge effects.
After that we went to tolquon castle. Trapper really liked it. It was similar to dunnotar but with much more of the structured still standing. There were lots of cool nooks and crannies to get in and even several great rooms. It was lovely
Finally we had a little extra time and our historic Scotland pass gets us into a lot of castles free so we added one. We went to Huntley castle. It was a much taller building. Which made me think of a fortified house or the castle in outlander. No moat or other structures just great big tall walls.
Finally we then went to dufftown. We went to the glenfiddich distillery. We bought a small bottle and I will be cracking into it shortly. We then had supper in duff town and drove to our bnb in the middle of lochness. We have a big day tommorrow again.
