So we checked out the falls last night. They were pretty cool. They have a platform built out that a great deal of the water rushes right underneath. It was a little unnerving. It was beautiful and free though. I woke quite early this morning but had a lovely morning siting in a castle stairway that was open on one side so I could see a court yard. Well today ends the exploring part of the trip. The road home begins tommorrow. Today we went to leitchenstien briefly. Then went hiking in the mountains. Then had cheese fondue at a hotel high in the mountains. The fondue was awesome but I am currently suffering from a bit of a cheese hangover. We then drove the rest of the way to our castle hostel. So today we went to the opening day of Oktoberfest. It was our first day that it rained all day. But we watched the brewers parade went into a few tents. The tents are massive. Though we didn't stay more then a few hours given how little the two of use drink. I did have a beer today though. After that we went to the Bavarian royal palace toured around there. They did have all the trappings of a real monarchy. Maybe not quite impressive as the hapsbergs in Vienn...

So today was our Austrian and Bavarian castle day. We started with the two Bavarian ones. One of these castles inspired the Disney castles. They were really more neo gothic or renasance palaces then castles. We both quite liked them but the guided tour with strict timelines was not good. So we checked into our bnb in Dachau with no problem at all. This morning we went to dachau concentration camp. It was a rather solemn experience. I think it was our last nazi thing of the trip. I will say I am impressed and taken a back by the German approach to this history. They just say what happened and leave it at that. There is no covering things up no soft pedalling apology. Just facts and figures and eye witness accounts. And a desire to remember. ...
