Today was the hardest day as we had to climb 800-900m up a steep mountain. To get to camp we then had to climb pretty much all the way down on the other side. Despite how hard it was we all had a really good day. Eddy and another person in the group called Kai struggled with altitude sickness. Whilst sorting through many different drugs Eddy had a tablet that helped for a little while. Luckily for me I had no problems with altitude sickness. At the first stop me and another girl in the group called Julia waited for the rest of the group but as we were a lot quicker the guide just told us after waiting for an hour to go ahead to camp and meet everyone there. We arrived 2 and a half hours before the rest of the group and around an hour before the porters so we were wondering whether we had gone to the right camp! To kill time whilst waiting for the rest of the group we helped the porters set up the cooking tent and I made up mine and Eddys mattresses and sleeping bags. When the others arrived they joked that Julia and I were like mountain goats. Eddy found the downhill part a lot easier and arrived slightly before the last two people in the group. We then had a big lunch and a siesta before dinner a bit later in the evening. Eddy didn't feel hungry so she skipped dinner (one of the symptoms of altitude sickness). My appetite was as big as ever and I ate the generous four courses. One thing Eddy and I did not enjoy about the trail is the smell of the toilets which were just holes in the ground! The toilets at this camp site were particularly bad as they were used by a lot of people. After dinner everyone went back to their tents to get enough sleep in before the longest day trekking.
