Made French Toast for breakfast, then had a manicure and pedicure at the villa. Lovely girl, named Anna.
I had led Scott to believe we were going for a swim at the beach (sort of true) & we had to catch the bus (also sort of true). I told him to cross the road & we were at the Sunset Oia Sailing office where I had previously arranged a trip. Scott was completely surprised, as I'd fobbed off the idea earlier.
We were actually early, so we had a smoothie at a little rooftop cafe nearby.
Their mini bus picked us up & we drove all the way to the new port. There were little fishing boats everywhere that looked like toys.
After what seemed like ages, we were all sorted into our groups. I had picked a smaller group tour - a maximum of 18, but there were only 12 of us.
We were on a brand new catamaran (they were extra fussy with everything), & we set off for Red Beach where we could swim & snorkel. Beautiful, clear & warm water. We saw lots of fish & a bright yellow eel.
Next stop was at White Beach for another swim & lunch - Greek kebabs, salads, pasta, dolmades, prawns in tomato sauce & beer or wine (all day).
Really lovely & all made fresh on board.
The skipper took us along the cliff edge to see the volcanic scarring & geological layers. Santorini is not the one island, it's the name given to the whole Caldera. Went past the old prison, which is now the privately owned villa of Mr. Pirelli Tyre Man. He's going to give it to his daughter when she marries!!
Went past the Church of the Holy Seven Children, who survived the 1956 earthquake that capsized their boat. Their parents unfortunately drowned. There is an annual event to honour them by the locals.
Next was the Hot Springs created by the natural sulphur, but it wasn't very hot! More lukewarm. We were told it was ruin our jewellery & stain our clothes, but it didn't do either.
Spent the rest of the afternoon sailing towards Oia to catch the sunset. A really beautiful way to spend the day & see the sun setting into the water.
Mini bus back to our hotel & we sat outside having a glass of wine, watching the lights.
