A super lazy day spent by the plunge pool with both breakfast & lunch made here. So lovely.
At 8:30pm, we caught a taxi to Thira for the White Door Theatre, a Greek wedding theatre restaurant. Thira is vastly different to Oia. Much larger, far busier & loads more shops, bars & eateries. More of the younger set!
Found the Theatre door, where we were told we were 'family of the groom.' It started in a small room that looked like the outside of the family home. The play began by introducing the Greek mother, maid & daughter, all performing their roles in a a traditional morning of getting ready for a wedding. All slap stick humour & audience interaction. The men came in & there was a fracas about the missing wine before we were all led out to the 'restaurant' setting for the 'reception.' (About 40 people). It was an outdoor patio with little fairy lighting under trees, where everyone had tables assigned just like a wedding - fantastic. We all had homemade Greek mezzedes & white Santorini wine. The play continued throughout the reception with all of us singing & dancing the famous Syrtaki & Zorba until the time the guests had to leave with lots more dancing & smashing of plates! Really entertaining. Opa!!
Trying to find a taxi without being pre-arranged took a while, but we shared one with people we met at the theatre. We called out, "Cousins!!" - as that was what we all were at the 'wedding.' Gorgeous looking Italian lady travelling with her daughter. Such an interesting life she had.
Great night out!
