Burra Creek Gorge 6:50am - Burra (fuel) - Port Augusta (fuel + lunch) - Kimba (photo) - Wudinna (fuel + photo) - Poochera Rest Area (near Streaky Bay, SA) 5:15pm
10.5 hrs / 610 kms
We woke up at 6am after a pretty cold night. It was -2 degrees and there was ice everywhere. We only had very limited petrol in the tank and had to make it to Burra. We were a bit worried and finally arrived in Burra and found the only petrol station (well actually the only place) open with 2 litres to spare! We've never been so excited to see a petrol station. The last petrol station was at Morgan and we had half a tank so assumed we would find petrol along the way as no sign to say last petrol for a long time! It was a pretty remote road without many rest stops as no room on the side of the road.
We drove through some very old and pretty towns this morning and one place that looked really cute but we didn't stop is called Peterborough (SA) which has all steam train engine's all over town. If we weren't driving so far today we might have stopped, but maybe next time.
We then arrived at Port Augusta and filled up with fuel and then headed to the tourist information. We then drove to the Water Tower Lookout which looks out over Port Augusta and the Flinders Ranges. We had lunch and the kids had a play in the park. Port Augusta has a very interesting landscape, with water and the ranges.
We drove past Iron k*** and saw the mountain which has been made by moving all the iron ore.
Then it was onto Kimba and a stop for a photo at the halfway across Australia landmark and the big Galah.
Then onto Wudinna for some more fuel and a photo of the granite sculpture of the "Australian Farmer".
We were aiming to make it to Streaky Bay but we decided that it had been a long day in the car and was getting close to dinner time so we stopped about 40 kms short of Streaky Bay at Poochera Rest Area.
The kids had a play around on some old farming machinery while Roger and I got dinner ready. Then we had BBQ pork scotch with vegetables on the BBQ and were able to eat outside again tonight.
Today was actually quite warm with our jumpers off and it's been a very mild evening too.
We have seen rabbit, horses, sheep, birds

Dianne Question is it Matt Nolan that Roger knows and was he the agent for the sale of the business? I will tell you about some coincidences if it is so.
Dianne Teaghan it is Iron Knob, do you remember when we camped at Kimba and it poured during the night and we woke to be floating on our air beds.
Dana There was also a very weird "lady man" in the toilets that freaked us out completely. Looking back now it was probably just a pedo excited to see 4 cute little girls going off for a shower! Yes I am much better today(haha).
