Day 25 - Mataranka
Every morning at Little Roper they have free billy tea with freshly made Johnny cakes and puff-da-loons (for $1 each) which you add spread too. They were so yummy and we also bought a loaf of freshly made bread for lunch.
They also bring out a snake and blue tongue lizards for the kids to hold around the campfire.
I did lots of washing then walked 2km to the Mataranka Homestead with one of the families and Bronte rode with the girls. Bronte had a swim and then we walked/rode back.
Had an early lunch and then we drove to Bitter Springs. Here you float down the natural spring on a noodle then hop out at the end then walk back to the start then float back down again. It was a very slow current and you had to make sure you dodged the stumps in the water. Bronte kept freaking out saying there were crocodiles. The kids were having fun with their friends but as soon as they all left our kids wanted to go back to the caravan park. We floated down a few more times then headed back.
Bronte did some homework with one of her friends while Rog chatted, Josh played with the animals and I cleaned up the van a bit.
We then went back to the homestead for another swim and chatted to an old grey nomad about the transport industry. He has driven about 9 million kilometres in his stock truck so he had plenty of stories to share.
We had dinner and then we got to feed the sugar gliders mill worms. They are so cute the way they pick the worms out of your fingers and they are so soft to pat.
The kids loved Whippy’s Show so much they wanted to go again. So off to the homestead we went for another great whip cracking show
