Today was a day of indecision. We could not figure out if we should stay in the area or press forward. We contemplated renting a jeep and doing some self guided 4X4 tours of Sedona but it was a little costly and we figured we could see what we wanted to see by driving the scenic route in the RV instead of taking the interstate. We were correct with our assumption and saw some amazing scenery. We got some excellent photos as well which we will post as soon as we have a chance. I have had some difficulty posting the photos the past couple of times I tried. Maybe they have a limit of how many pictures of the same thing you can post. Wait till they see how many picture of the Grand Canyon we took! The drive up to the Grand Canyon hereafter referred to as GC, was shocking to say the least. We very quickly drove out of desert like climate with cacti and other similar vegetation and into 5 feet of snow. Whaaaaat? I can't believe spell check let me keep that many "A's" …I guess spell check can understand emotion. The trip to the GC was nothing,NOTHING like either of us expected. I really cannot say what Mira expected although she did look surprised to see all of the white sand only to have us tell her it was snow not sand…come on Mira, keep up! There were far more trees than we expected and we really started to think that maybe the GC was just a hoax. When we finally made it to the park we drove in expecting to be able to see something. The suspense kept building as we did not see the canyon until we were standing at the rim. Once standing at the rim it was unbelievable. Such an incredible place the pictures just don't do it justice. We kept thinking of all the times we had seen the GC on TV and in movies and thought, "how come we have never seen it one time with snow and trees? We walked 2 miles along the rim and watched the sun set over the Canyon. We visited an old hotel that was built in 1895 and the little village around it. Brigette and I both agreed that the Grand Canyon was nothing like we expected but we enjoyed it more than we could have hoped for. We are both thrilled to scratch it off the bucket list and would love to come back another time. We left the GC and head toward Williams, about 50 miles south. We drove around in circles looking for the RV Park we had made a reservation at but gave up as we were tired and just wanted to sleep. We pulled into a Holiday Inn parking lot and that was it.
