It was supposed to rain today so we figured we would head on to our next stop. We were going to tour some ghost towns on the way but it was windy, cold and rainy so we headed straight for Tombstone Arizona. We went to an RV Park near Tombstone but it was full so we backtracked a little a found a place not too far from there. We had noticed a sign for the "Kartchner Caverns" on our way and it was only about 10 minutes from where we were staying. We figured caverns were something we could do regardless of the weather so we headed down to check it out. The cavern tour was amazing. The stalactites, stalagmites, and other formations were incredible. There was one formation they called Kubla Khan that was over 50 feet tall. There was a formation called a soda straw that forms in a hollow cylinder the size of a pencil that was 21' from floor to ceiling. We really enjoyed the tour and Mira seemed to enjoy it as well. Unfortunately we were not allowed to bring our cameras in so the pictures are from replicas out in the museum part. If you Google Kartchner Caverns you will see some of the amazing formations we got to see. After the tour we headed back to camp cooked up some dinner and relaxed for the evening. Tomorrow we will be heading to Tombstone for the shootout at the OK Corral re-enactment, Boothill cemetery, the epitaph newspaper and some ghost town hunting. After leaving Tombstone we are heading for Tucson for a day or so.
