Tasha's Travels
Hi Everyone
Been really busy over the last few days cramming in everything we wanted to do in Buenos Aires before we leave today! We went to this amazing Jazz club called Notorious, you can sit and listen to all the music at these glass tables in the front and then out the back is the bar and the restaurant with a live band. We were sat on the stage with the band, thanks to our friends reservation. The band was a mix, a really old guy on the piano and a young girl singing, and this strange man on a guitar, the girl was amazing, but it was a lot more swing than jazz with all the sax etc, still a great night though . We also went to the Ecological reserve which we had heard lots of good things about, but we got there and it was just this path circuit round some gross sludgey lake with lots of elephant grass and that was it, so we weren't blown away by it!
We also took a trip over to La Boca, we'd been told not to venture further than the port area and the main streets. The houses are all painted really bright colours, and its all very touristy. I think its meant to be better at the weekend, they have market stalls and with more people visiting so i think we would have managed to avoid getting stopped every 2mins to buy something or go to their cafe etc. We did see some live tango, but it all felt a bit fake because its so set up for tourists and too risky to venture beyond that!
Yesterday we took a tour of the Theatre Colon which was really interesting, its takes up an entire block and is 7 levels high, with 2 basement levels as well. We got to sit in the theatre and were then taken round the workshops where they make the sets and some of the shoes etc. We also got to see some of the dancers rehearsals, but sadly we weren't allowed any picsso i have nothing i can show you.
Today its pouring with rain, first time since we left the UK though, so we've been really lucky. We've just finished squeezing all our stuff into our packs and are set for our flight to Peru later tonight- arriving in Lima around 12.30pm. Feels bizarre moving on again, fingers crossed Lima is better than what we've been told!!
Hope everyone is well- speak to you when i get to Peru!
