Tasha's Travels
Hello Everyone!
Well we made it to Uraguay in one piece, and we managed to nab ourselves a big leather chair to have a quick power nap on the way over so we were on top form when we arrived! Colonia is only 3hours away on the ferry ( on the slow cheap one!) but it was boiling hot sunshine when we arrived and very leafy and pretty! We headed straight for the historical centre which felt very similar to Parati, cobbled streets with pretty little coloured houses and lots of restaurants. There is a big stone wall which surrounds the centre, with a draw bridge and lighthouse in the centre, and you could walk all along the coast on cobbled streets. It was just so clean and relaxing after staying in a very fast paced city for a few weeks, so it really felt like a little holiday!
However, when we stopped for lunch, Claire discovered she no longer had a camera ( with all her photos so far in it). So we immediately retraced our steps, but no sign of it anywhere. We began asking about in case some kind tourist had handed it in, and before we knew it we were riding along in the back seat of a police car with Inspector Nilson to return to the scene of the crime and relay what happened!?!?!?! Clearly Colonia is not used to anything remotely interesting happening because the lost camera stirred up quite a fuss, we picked up another officer and supposed 'translater'who only knew how to ask 'what is your name?' and then we got driven to a Naval base to tell them about the camera. 2hours later, we still didn't have a camera, but they were going to write an article about it in the local newspaper!!!!! Fairly confident that we had done all we could regarding the camera, we decided to try and salvage our day trip, so we did a few touristy bits and then had some dinner along the see front, and it was great. Excluding the camera incident, the whole day was brilliant, very pretty and relaxing, and we got another stamp in our passport!! Yippee!!
