Tanya and Claudia's take on the World
After a fantastically comfortable bus ride (the best one so far) and a tortuously long boarder control we arrived in Singapore and were absolutely amazed at how clean the city is. It's a great place and a fab shopping destination. Definitely a city to visit when the wallet is filled to bursting with cash. As travellers on a budget we found it really expensive and were glad to be there for only two days. Like most tourists we got onto a "hop on and hop off" tour bus to see the sights on offer. A great way to see everything when your time is limited. We had our standard cultural fix which is a must if you want an understanding of how Singaporeans manage to live harmoniously under one roof. The Malays, the Chinese and the Indians all occupy various areas in Singapore which makes for a very colourful and interesting outing in the city. Of course we also visited Chinatown and it is the best and cleanest one we have seen so far on our travels. Believe me, we've seen many. We also sampled the multi ethnic cuisine at one of Singapore's many hawker centres (food courts). It feels really safe in Singapore and the people are very friendly, a place we'd like to return to.
