Tanya and Claudia's take on the World
We have well and truly left the good old Aussie Sunshine behind. It's the grey and rainy season in Hong Kong at the mo and when I say grey and rainy, it's been like this for the duration of our time here. No sunshine means the pictures are very dull. I suppose the bright lights make up for the lack of sunshine. One day we went on a day trip to Lantau Island to see the Big Buddha it is supposedly huge, but the day we went the fog and mist were so thick that we couldn't even see it from just meters away. Much to our annoyance as we had climbed about 300 stairs, convinced that we would be able to see it from up there. Not a chance!!!
After burning the candle at both ends in OZ and NZ it's nice to be able to kick back and do things at our own pace and not have a planned agenda. The Shopping in this place is phenomenal. It's a shoppers paradise. One day we got sucked into shopping at all the fab markets, before we knew it 5 hours had passed and it was time to go to the night market for some more shopping. Subsequently we had to send a 5 Kg box of goodies to my parents the following day....
Emma joined us on our last day in Hong Kong and she brought the sunshine with her.... Perfect weather to go and see the stunning views of Hong Kong from Victoria Peak. But not before we got rudely awakened at 4 am by banging on our door. Slightly disorientated and thinking it must be Emma I open the door exclaiming " Hey Emma" only to have some policeman shout out "PASSPORT PASSPORT!!!!" what the hell type of place are we staying in?.... the joys of living on a budget!!!....At the Peak we bumped into the Welsh Rugby 7 team and Patrick a former colleague of ours from Citibank (small world huh!) Emma also met the US Rugby 7 team on her flight from San Fransisco to HK. Pity we were not staying in HK long enough to catch a game.
To bid farewell to the scrummy cuisine in Hong Kong, we had a lovely meal in our favorite restaurant and then it was time to move on to our next destination.... Mumbai.......
