Tallinn is a perfect weekend getaway with lots of character and charm. This medieval town is easy to explore on foot. We took advantage of a special offer and spoilt ourselves with a stay at the Savoy.
The Architecture in the old town is predominantly medieval with winding cobbled streets that are doted with elegant back alleys, court yards and spired churches.
Going for a meal in one of the many Medieval themes restaurants is a must. The ambiance and decor is authentic and the menus serve traditional fare, the food is served by wenches and you may even be spoilt with some medieval theatrics whilst dining by candle light. The Estonian take on garlic bread is scrumptious (fried strips of rye bread accompanied by a sour cream dip... yummy)
As we had extra time we organised a day trip to Helsinki by Ferry (Viking Express) Here we took in the sights and had seafood for dinner before returning.
