I'm currently on a train on my way to Skanderborg to Lise (my roommate) place. It's been 3 days since Ollerup ended and man was it an emotional weekend. The tears all started on Saturday. We had to pack up our room and completely clean it out. Was sad taking my photos down and my flag, reality really started to sink in that this course has finally ended. 4 wonderful months with the most amazing people and teachers you could ever meet. As I mentioned in my previous blog, I had the time of my life. An amazing experience, something that I will remember for the rest of my life!
So Saturday everyone was cleaning their rooms and packing all their stuff into bags and boxes. I had so much stuff, you don't realize how much stuff you can accumulate in 4 months, imagine next year when I'm there for 6 months! Everyone's belongings decked the hallways while the rooms were cleaned and bare and hugs can be seen in all directions. Everyone was writing messages in books as a momentum to keep forever.
Saturday night was our formal dinner consisting of good food, speeches from students and teachers, singing and music. It also consisted of a lot (and I mean a lot) of tears as once again reality was really hitting everyone. And people were sharing stories and memories from the past 4 months. I made a speech on behalf of all the international students and we presented all the teachers a little gift from us. I then spoke about our amazing international teacher Bo Busk, who has looked after us and has helped us so much in everything. While I was thanking him I broke down in tears! I couldn't control it! Can't believe I did that, took me forever to get my composure back so I could finish off my speech. Gosh how embarrassing. Bloody emotions! So Saturday was hard but it wasn't our last day, we still had Sunday and that was the day that family and friends came to watch us perform and then take us home (well those that had a home nearby).
I had my friends from Copenhagen come watch, which was really nice. So we performed for everyone to watch and it all went really well and then ended the day with dinner and a speech from the principal. It was in Danish so I couldn't understand it but got some parts translated. Apparently we were the group that ate the most food per person! Haha
Oh just typing this is bringing tears to my eyes. Sunday after dinner it was the final hugs and goodbyes to those we were going to see again next year but then also to those we weren't going to see for a long long time. I guess for the Nordic students it's not too bad cos they can still come visit or I could visit them as they don't live too far. But for those international students that aren't continuing, it was all very emotional. I will miss their beautiful character and fantastic personalities, their lovely smiles and just seeing them around the school (their presence). I know we will see each other again some time in the future, whether it be near or far.
As one thing ends another opens. It is only 10 days til I head to Paris where I will see my most awesome friends from Perth. Firstly, Chris who I actually spoke to earlier today on skype. Was great hearing his voice and talking to him. I do miss all of you back home. Anyways I am looking forward to seeing Perth faces. I will also be seeing Marie and Kris from Acro and spending Paris time with them too. So I will be in Paris for 8 days for some great funtimes and blowing my budget!
As Christmas draws to a near I will blog again and tell you all about my Danish Christmas experience. As for now, I'm wishing you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS. May it be filled with great presents, special memories with friends and families and a fabulous feast to fill up all your hungry bellies.
Love you all xoxo
