Hi from Ollantaytambo!
It's been a long day! Left at 7.30am and made our way to Ollantaytambo visiting a couple of places on the way. Drove through Sacsayhuaman and then visiting Ccaccaccollo where there is a Planterra-supported women's weaving co-operation. Fed some alpacas and they explained the process of weaving. Bought quite a few things there! All for a good cause of course as it helps the community. Bought a hat, fingerless gloves/mittens, a scarf all made from alpaca wool and a bracelet too. They definitely will come in handy especially in Bolivia and New Zealand where it will be freezing! There was this adorable baby who smiled and laughed when he saw me so I just had to take a picture! I did ask though and the mother was more than happy to let me :)
We then headed to the Pisac ruins which had stunning views.
We then headed to this restaurant that was helped by the Planterra foundation and G Adventures. Before arriving, we stopped to buy some guinea pig to eat (sorry guinea pig owners/lovers!) which was wasn't bad, very salty though so don't think I'll have it again.
The restaurant had only opened in March so very recently. it was a free lunch. Had so many different kind of Peruvian food. Not sure what each one was lol! But most of them tasted really nice.
Headed to Ollantaytambo, our last stop of the day. Checked in, and then I realised I had forgotten my passport back in my big backpack in Cusco! :/ I need it to get into Machu Picchu so I'm not sure if I'll even be able to get in :( so so so cross with myself! Luckily I had emailed a photocopy to myself and I have printed it out so hopefully that may help me get in. Doubt it though but fingers crossed! Just as I was thinking to myself that things were going smoothly so far. Thought too soon!!!
Looked around for a bit and had some hot chocolate which wasn't very nice! It was freezing so had to keep warm lol!
Went out for dinner but I wasn't very hungry at all as I was still full from lunch! Had no idea how the others managed to eat all their food!
Off to get the train to Aguas Calientes at midday tomorrow, the stop before Machu Picchu.
