Now in the North Island! The South Island has been great, amazing scenery for sure. Looking forward to exploring the north and comparing the two.
Went wine tasting at a winery in the Marlborough region. This family-owned winery was one of the first to be set up in the region. There were some lovely wines.
The sun was out so sat outside afterwards for a bit before making our way up to Picton. I had my lunch in the sun by the harbour.
Got all together to get the ferry to Wellington. It took about 3 hours and was pretty smooth which was surprising as was told the Cook Strait was usually pretty rough at times. I read most of the way which passed the time. Haven't read much this trip compared to South America. Probably because I can't be bothered to lol!
Staying at a Travelodge in the middle of the city. The standards of Travelodge here are soooo much better than in the UK!
To make the most of the city we went out for dinner and drinks which was lovely. Said goodbye to even more people. More people will be joining us tomorrow so hopefully they're nice!
Off to Whakapapa Village in Tongariro National Park tomorrow for two nights. Apparently it's going to snow heavily so let's hope we manage to get there okay. Will have to leave Wellington earlier than planned so not much time in the city :(
