An early start! Had to get up at 5.30am to get ready. Was due to be picked up at 6.30am but they didn't arrive until 7.20am so a lot of waiting around. Left just before 8am.
So much more people this time! About 30 I think? So will be impossible to remember everyone's names! Almost everyone is from Australia too! I'm the only one from the UK!
Stopped a few times throughout the journey to Fox Glacier. Stopped at Arthur's Pass and drove though the Otira Gorge. Beautiful views!
Stopped at a town called Hokitika for a while. Went to a jade factory, saw it being carved and so many different kinds of jade jewellery were available to buy. So expensive so didn't bother!
Went to the supermarket to buy some lunch. Sat outside and had lunch in the sun which was lovely.
Drove onto Fox Glacier. Checked in, sharing with 2 Australian girls, what are the odds of that?! :p We have to share a bathroom with all the girls and there are only 2 showers! So looks like there'll be lots of waiting around!
Went for a long walk and saw Lake Matheson and the reflections of the mountains in the lake. Beautiful.
Got back to a lovely dinner, it was so nice to have a good homemade meal. There was lamb shank, roast potatoes and vegetables. Lovely!
Went for another walk after dinner to see some glow worms. We couldn't have any light otherwise we wouldn't be able to see the glow worms. So we had to walk in the dark in a line holding onto the person in front to guide us! But the dark & deaf person = bad idea! I couldn't see anything so which meant when people were talking I had no idea what was going on! Was frustrating at times especially when we were hanging around for ages, I had no idea why then realised it was cos someone was talking! But when I got back my roommates kindly explained to me what was being said, bless them.
Off on a glacier walk tomorrow morning and then it's Queenstown! Cannot wait! :D
