Checked in for my flight to Santiago changing at Lima no problem.
Was thinking that I hadn't seen any chain restaurants at all in Bolivia, all independent restaurants and cafés. Well until La Paz airport that was! There was a Subway! Of course I didn't have it if that's what you're thinking! It was 2am lol!
It took ages to get to the gate! There were only 2 people at the immigration desks and a HUGE queue of people so that took forever! Then they wanted to check people's hand luggage individually so had to empty my rucksack and I had A LOT of stuff so that took forever to put back in! Then the usual X-ray machines so I didn't see the point of checking bags individually if they were going to be X-rayed anyway! Will never understand! Then as soon as I got to the gate it was time to board! So about one and an half hours of all that! The plus side was that it meant I didn't have to hang around waiting to board!
There were no window seats available to Lima so I had an aisle seat. So that meant I didn't sleep well at all because people were moving around and constantly bumping into me! Thankfully from Lima to Santiago I had a window seat and there was nobody next to me so I slept peacefully the whole way even though it was only 3 and an half hours but some sleep is better than none!
Landed at Santiago, picked up my bag to find my padlock missing and straps undone! It looks like someone must have checked my bag, so annoyed as they could have at least put it back where they found it! It doesn't look like anything is missing though but can't really check properly until I get to Christchurch. Luckily I have a spare padlock so I can use that for now!
I couldn't be bothered to go out into Santiago plus I would have had to pay to leave my bags in storage so I just stayed at the airport and chilled. The time went by fast thankfully! I had a late lunch/early dinner before checking in.
I have to pick up my bag in Auckland instead of it being put through to Christchurch due to customs. I only have less than 2 hours between landing and my flight to Christchurch so fingers crossed I'll manage to get it!
I'm sad to leave South America but it's not goodbye, but see you later as I'll definitely come back again one day.
I'm sooooo excited for New Zealand though as it's been my dream to visit as I'm a bit of an adrenaline junkie and New Zealand is the place to be!
Got on the plane okay, it's more empty than full! Most people have a whole row to themselves including me which is so nice! Hopefully it'll mean I'll sleep well for the 13 hour flight.
Thursday won't exist for me so there will be no blog entry for the 19th June!
