Ahhh it's so nice to be back to 'normality' - proper showers, toilets and beds!

Wasn't cold last night thanks to all the layers I wore! 6 layers on top and 3 on the bottom. Plus a warm sleeping bag and many blankets! Was hot at one point!

Had some breakfast before heading back on the salt flats. Took many photos. Everyone got creative as the endless white of the salt flats creates some great depth illusions. We spent about an hour or more taking photos!

Stopped near the end of the salt flats where they put salt into small piles ready to be transported. It must be a very tiring job!

Stopped at a market just as we said goodbye to the salt flats. It reminded me so much of the markets in Peru, so many similar things.

The usual way to Uyuni was blocked so the drivers tried to find an alternative way which took ages! Had to turn around quite a few times as they wet the wrong way. One 4x4 got stuck in the sand a few times. One time it took ages to get it out! The men had to help push the car, poor things! Not easy at high altitude! It finally got free and we finally found the way! Got to Uyuni and once we arrived at our hotel there were only 2 4x4s. We then realised the other two had been stopped by s group of people threatening to slingshot them. One managed to get away but the other wasn't so lucky. They actually opened the boot, checked the 4x4 thoroughly. Luckily they were let go and finally arrived at the hotel. They were so upset and terrified, poor things! I really felt for them. So glad they managed to get back safely!

I was so glad to be able to have a proper shower at last! The room is freezing though so hopefully it has heating! I've got a bad cough and cold unfortunately so will have to wrap up extra warm! I'll survive!

Went out for a meal at last, we were starving as we had no lunch due to all that happened! The service was so so slow which is typical in Bolivia but it wasn't good when we were really hungry! And the food came at various times so some people had finished before others had even started! But one good thing, no bread provided, think we have had enough of it for the last month or so lol!

Off to Potosi tomorrow, which is the highest town in the world at 4070m.
