Tamara's Travels
Noosa - apparently the St Tropez of Oz! Despite this we have found a lovely, inexpensive old hostel. In fact its the oldest house in Noosa - an 'old Queenslander'. The hostel is really nice, with a very laid back atmosphere. There is a verandah, which boasts stunning views of the Glasshouse Mountains, which are part of the hinterland of Noosa. These mountains seem to rise from nowhere - just totally flat land, then suddenly a peak! The view is west, so the sunsets behind the mountains are pretty nice!
Noosa also has a huge national park, so we walked in there (watching out for snakes etc!) for a few hours yesterday. There are also the famous Everglade lakes, which we have seen a bit, but intend to explore a little more soon.
Our next stop is Fraser Island - largest sand island in the world. We are taking a 4x4 'troopie' over, with 8 other people and will be navigating our way around with camp gear for 3 days! Should be exciting! Not allowed any swimming as shark infested water, and have to watch out for the dingo's, but apart from that should be fine! We have been waiting a while to make sure the cyclone does not head down that way before setting off.
There are always people playing lovely chilled out music on the streets, and if you wonder a little way you can find a deserted (practically) beach to stroll on. In fact did yoga yesterday on a bit of beach and had the water stroking my feet! Perfect!
Off to catch some waves now....
