Arrived in Sihanoukville late... We'd chatted to these two fellas in Phnom Pen before leaving, but they stitched us right up by getting the last room in what appeared to be the coolest place in Sihanoukville! Eventually found a bungalow to crash after some looking around... aided by our taxi driver who on first picking us up seemed a bit dodgy... but he wasn't! Met back up with these two lads we'd met on the bus and hit the ale.... HARD!
Felt horrendous next day... but decided we'd stay a few nights so we hit the beach in the afternoon. I'd developed a ridiculous number of mozzie bites on the inside of my arms and feet... they really had a feast when I arrived!
Anyway then had a worryingly romantic meal down on the seafront (don't worry Natalie... he's not my type!) and came back to the bungalow to crash out! I woke up at 4am to find Man Utd on the tele.. so watched that, then went back to sleep!
Got up at a reasonable time and went to the City of Sihanoukville... bit of a tip! But on Natalie's recommendation (and request!) went to a restaurant called the Holy Cow! Main reason was to procure some Kampot Pepper for my gorgeous lady... but we stopped for a drink as well! Lots of burning stuff and fireworks going off as it was first day of Chinese New Year... not sure why the Cambodians love it so much... just seems an excuse to make a fire and get drunk! Came back to find a full-on rave going on outside our bungalows... at 11am!!!! By this point my arms and hands had swollen up so I looked something like the Michelin man... was pretty painful- Lambert, of course, saw the funny side!! Again and again!!!
Then headed to the beach for the afternoon and had a really chilled out rest of the day. This quickly turned during the evening after a few beers at the quietest bar in the place... had live music which was comedy, by some proper middle-aged desperate old rockers... was ok though.... again met the German and Aussie dudes from the bus at another bar, then headed to JJ's, a club right on the seafront where you have to walk through the sea to get in!!! Good night... stopped drinking before I got too smashed but still managed to trip over a rock and scrape my knees! You can take the boy out of Idiot, but you haven't a cat's chance in hell of taking the Idiot out of the boy!! All fine though... just a scrape! Hit the sack... Goodnight!
Next day woke up, went to the beach, packed and boarded a bus to Ho Chi Mihn City at 8pm... was scheduled to be 13 and a half hours long... I couldn't wait!
