Arrived in Singapore fairly late, with apparently no way to contact Lambert's mate (Chris), who also happened to be out on the lash at the time. Couldn't find internet to see if he'd Facebooked us his address, and my Thai phone sim card was now redundant in Singapore!!!
We decided to get on a bus in the general direction of the city centre, but even this proved a challenge as the last direct bus had already gone. Some locals tried their best to explain what we should do so we got on one, and got off when the driver said to change!! Still confused, we stood at this bus stop trying to figure what to do when our knight in shining armour appeared... a local guy called CJ!! He let us use his iphone to check Facebook, then call Chris (which is quite difficult when a man is in a deafeningly noisy nightclub!). Anyway, through luck rather than judgement we managed to work out where the attempted description of his condo was, and jumped into a cab with CJ (who was heading elsewhere). Found the place, found the condo, and let ourselves in with the key he had left outside for us!!!
We settled down, watched some TV until Chris arrived back at about 4am somewhat the worse for wear, then went to bed while he continued his solitary party in his lounge!!!!
Next day we did very little- Chris lives a way from the city centre- but had a wander around. He then decided we should get on the booze early in preparation for the night out he had planned... and who were we to disagree??!!
That evening we took a cab down towards the harbour to the opening night of a nightclub up in a skyscraper!! Chris had forked out nearly 900 Singapore Dollars for a table, so champers and drinks very aplenty!! Met some lads who Tom used to work with/go to uni with and some new people as well... actually a really good bunch of fellas!! Also, the Chippendales were in town and this was apparently their afterparty?! Fair enough! A great night though alround!!!
Next day we slept off our hangovers, then had a bit of a wander to find an internet cafe... which was more trying than it sounds!! The only thing close was a gaming cafe, where 50odd teenagers sit for hours playing games online... me and Tom looked thoroughly out of place by even daring to go on Facebook, Hotmail and BBC Sport!! And it was so bloody noisy!!!
Early evening we packed up, thanked Chris and got the MRT (sort of like a much better Tube!) to the airport for our flight to Australia!! Farewell South East Asia... it's been fun!!!!
