Michelangelo's David with my David.

Our train trip from La Spezia to Firenze was uneventful. We saw the many marble quarries on the mountainside again. It was raining when we arrived. We easily found our gorgeous hotel, settled in then began exploring (it was after 5pm). The stature of David was first on the list. We arrived at the museum not long before closing time so we're allowed in for free - bargain!!! We really only wanted to check out David. The other marble statues and busts were pretty awesome too though.
Next stop was the markets - I bought a leather handbag!!! (Haven't made many purchases on this trip - no room in luggage - so very excited.)
A delicious pasta dinner rounded off the day - or so I thought. But wait......there's more!!! Just around the corner, stunningly beautiful under lights, Florence Cathedral. What an incredible building. Can't wait to explore the inside.
