I got up and walked to Town Hall train station with Jen to catch a train to Karoomba in the Blue Mountains. I arrived there after a two hour journey (most of which I slept through after my late night out!) and waited for the hop-on-hop-off bus. I got off the bus and did a walk that leads to the scenic railway, which is the steepest railway line in the world! The walk down was amazing, with waterfalls and amazing views of the mountains. There were lots of people walking around saying hi on their way past. The scenic railway goes back up in reverse and is quite scary as there are no seat belts and you have to hold on tightly as it goes almost vertical!
I had lunch at a cafe overlooking the mountains and then got on the bus to see Honeymoon Point and to walk to see the Three Sisters and Echo Point. The viewing points give amazing views. I started chatting to two girls from Taiwan and walked round with them. WE then got on another bus to Everglade Falls. We then walked to Leura, which is a really picturesque town with really beautiful buildings. We caught the train back together to Sydney.
I met Jen and Rob in a bar called La Rosa, which is at the top of a really elegant shopping arcade called The Strand. We had a meat platter to share then went to a hotel called Shangri-la and went to the 32nd floor where there is a very posh bar offering panoramic views of the city. It was amazing to see The Opera House and bridge all lit up. The sign said smart dress code but luckily they let me in with my flip flops, walking trousers & smart top (the only clothes I could fit in my day bag to change into after being in the Blue Mountains!). Jen's old housemate Andy met us too and we all had cocktails. It was perfect sitting there looking out. However, the drinks were definitely not cheap so we headed to a restaurant after our cocktail. We went to a Thai restaurant & ordered some dishes to share amongst ourselves. We then headed to a really nice bar nearby and stayed there till the early hours of the morning. The bars in Sydney are amazing.
