Day 4
More car dramas this morning that eventually got sorted out and we finally got our car at 11am. A bit later thsn we had hoped. Because of the stress or for reasons unknown we were upgraded to a bigger car. We are now driving a Hyundai Santa Fe with leather interior. It is very comfartable.
We set out from London without too many problems though the traffic was bad until just past the airport.
We had in our minds to visit the windmill from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the church from the Vicar of Dibley. We eventually found them in a little town called Turville. It was just like stepping into history with narrow hedge lined streets and cottages who doors loooked only fit for dwarfs. There is no signs of their famous past but they sit quietly in this little hamlet unopposing and silent.
We continue on our journey and stop for lunch in the village of Stockenchurch.
It's time to get on with the driving and we take many M roads through the English countryside. It is very green and flat and the roads are multilaned highways. We finally get to Hull at about 6pm and have another problem with the hotel putting us in seperate rooms miles away from each other ( girls and parents have seperatea rooms) They have sorted this out and we get rooms near each other.
We head out for dinner and the place seems quite deserted. Everything has closed for the day. So different from London. We have to settle for Burger King after a walk along the river bank.
Hull is very near the Humber bridge. It is an imposing structure that, when it was first built, was the longest single span suspension bridge in the world. Today it is the fifth. (Corey and Jordan you should look it up it is amazing)
Anyway, we are off to Heartbeat territory tomorrow. Love to all our readers.

Lyn Peters Sorry to hear of your hiccups with car hire and accommodation but apart from that it sounds very exciting and interesting. It's a bit of a change to see things that have been around since before Australia was colonised.
