This flying visit of Ayutthaya has been one of great pleasure.

Only an hour away from Bangkok, we arrived at 2pm yesterday and had little difficulty finding the bungalows (Baan suan guesthouse) recommended by the Urban Hostel.

We wasted little time in hiring bicycles and immediately began our tour of the city.

Having the freedom of a bicycle meant we could stop as and when we please. We visited numerous temples and ate plenty of street food (I'm still to convince my Spanish friends to eat street food but I did get them involved with the Pad Thai). I ate skewers of chicken, liver and heart.

We skipped the "siesta" and went straight for the "fiesta!" as we started off with a few beers at the guesthouse.

At 10pm we made a skype call back home and were in good spirits. It was great to speak to my folks, my aunty Lynne and my cousin Jo.

This morning we made the best of our cycle hire and toured the city a little more in red hot sunshine.

Unfortunately we'll have to go our separate ways tomorrow as I head south for the islands and they head north. We have pre arranged a reunion in Ko Phi Phi though so I'll be looking forward to furthering my Espanyol in a few weeks time.
