Well today is the Big Day! An early start for Anna, Emma and me. I had to drive them to Angleholme at 7am for hair and make up appointments etc. I then returned back to Helsingborg for breakfast.
Linda, Chris and I went into town for a coffee and a bite to eat before returning to the apartment to get ourselves looking respectable for the wedding. We were picked up along with Henrik's old school mate and his fiancé for the forty minute trip to Eket. Thanks to a lot of prayers and finger crossing the rain stopped and the sun came out at just the right time!!
Shortly after everyone was seated the bridal procession flowed down the Isle led by the two beautiful flower girls, followed closely by the stunning bride in an elegant ivory wedding dress close by her side was the handsome groom resplendent in tails. Not far behind were the best men with the bridesmaids who looked radiant in their full length red satin 'A' line dresses.
The service was very moving even though we had difficulty following the service due to us not being able to understand Swedish! We had a rough idea and the two singers were just great.
The newly weds left the church for the reception in a 1929 Roosevelt car one of only 2 in Sweden.
Once we all arrived at the reception centre we had welcoming drinks and then welcomed the happy couple when they arrived. The reception was a sit down affair with excellent food, wine and lots of speeches. As you can imagine the speeches were in Swedish making it pretty hard to follow, but all was not lost as Anna & Henrik had of course thought of everything so our notes were in English and the seating was arranged so that we had the perfect people next to us to help us understand. I sincerely thank Karoline & Bjorn for their translations, insights and delightful company.
One of the highlights of the evening had to be the movie Anna's brothers made sending them both up. Even though there were no sub-titles we had no difficulty understanding. It made the 4th great movie to come out of Sweden
Though I must say it was a little less serious than the Stig Larsen trio of movies.
A great night was had by all with us finally crawling into bed at 3.00am
