We had a leisurely start to the day. The day was spent on the beach, snorkeling kayaking and sailing. In the evening we went back to the beach for the 'happy hour' only one other couple (Barbara and Paul Banks) joined us as most had gone to the Marlin bar at the resort for a pizza night. Once night fell we all went back to Katsumi for a bottle of bubbly to 'Whet the Babies head' Barbara had just heard that her Niece in England had just given birth to a baby boy.
Nick then got in the galley and cooked up some fantastic pizzas for our own pizza night. All in all a very pleasant and enjoyable evening with both old and new friends.
The following morning we heard there were strong winds forecast for the next few days gradually increasing. We took the tender and headed off to the Research station to check out the weather on their weather station. While we were there we had a bit of a tour around the facility and watched a 15 minute video showing the development of the station and it's functions. Although very interesting it delayed our departure somewhat, Lyndy was not amused!
As soon as we got back to Katsumi we stowed everything away and headed south. Our initial plan was to go to Cooktown but as the day went on we decided to spend the night at Cape Bedford. It was flat calm being in the lee of the shore, however we had a constant succession of 'bullets' very strong, sudden, short duration wind gusts. At least one was very strong as it snapped the hook that attaches the bridal to the anchor chain and shot the bridal right through the trampoline. I guess we were lucky it did not hit any of the hulls or superstructure! Nick, Lyndy and I got up at 4am and got underway. A fun day was had by all, finally arriving at Low Isles at 9.30pm. Time for dinner and a beer or two. Then we watched the F1 Grand Prix on TV. I only managed to stay up until about halfway before the call to my bed was too great!
