Claire & Steve's Excellent Adventure
It does actually feel a little bit like Christmas in Pokhara - there is a festival on in the next few days so there are lots of decorations and Christmas trees and everyone is in high spirits. We took Bishwa and Ramsingh out to dinner to say thank you for the last 12 days and there were even Christmas carols on the music system!
We spent the first part of Christmas Day on a bus heading back to Kathmandu. Not very traditional Christmas fare when we stopped for lunch - momos for Steve and Dhal Bhat for me! Kathmandu however has blossomed into a Christmas wonderland since we have been away. Thamel is covered in lights and there are Christmas trees and decorations everywhere. After putting our very sweaty clothes into the laundry we dressed up in our remaining finest gear and hit the streets to find somewhere to eat. Hoorah....we found somewhere that did turkey with cranberry sauce, roasted veggies and christmas cake. We got silly hats to wear and even a little present each. It turned into a really good Christmas day and as we staggered to the phone booth to call home we were 2 happy trekkers!
