We had a vague recollection of leaving Chumrung on our way to base camp and it was all downhill, meaning only one thing....we had a long climb upwards to get back there! The clouds were looming over the mountains and soon they were completely covered - Bishwa said that it was likely to be snowing up at base camp and people up there may be stranded for a few days before they could head down....really glad we were there when the weather was good. After falling over 5 times yesterday on the way down from base camp I made it my mission to keep upright all the way to Chumrung. Steve was on fire today and zoomed ahead of everyone. It was a good climb....lots of the villagers were heading to Chumrung for a festival so the mood was really good. We made it in time to see the opening ceremony which involved a lot of talking....and talking....and talking. Oh, and some old ladies got given flower garlands but not sure what that was about! The volleyball finally started just before the sun went down - the local boys were very good at the game and it was all very light hearted. It was quite strange watching the volleyball surrounded by amazing scenery and the pitch being located on the edge of the hillside. When the ball went off the court, the ball boy had a massive task to retrieve it!!!
