Claire & Steve's Excellent Adventure
We had a lovely day of trekking today.....a whopping 50 minutes from Chumrung to Jhino! We did carry on later to see the hot springs at Jhino - the water was bliss and very clear. We sat with our legs hanging in the spring chatting to some other trekkers about travelling. Back at the guesthouse we had a night with no kerosene heater so huddled together playing cards and drinking tea, but we did enjoy the pizza and lasagne (not very native to Nepal we know but it tasted good!)
As we neared the end of the trek we had mixed feelings - our bodies were pretty tired but we were pleased at what we had done over the past 10 days. It had been great to get away from the city, with all the noise, traffic and pollution and to see how life was so vastly different for the people living in the mountains. We would definitely do this again in Nepal probably the trek to Everest base camp which is around 3 weeks....wil need to do some serious training beforehand though!
Steve's knee finally packed in on the last day of our trek so it was a slow plod back down to Phedi to get a taxi back to Pokhara. We bought some locally made bracelets from a couple of villagers and I parted with my wooly hat and gloves to a nice lady - I'm sure they will look great with her traditional Nepalese outfit!
Its Christmas Eve tomorrow.....wonder what kind of Christmas it will be for us in Nepal?
