At last some cool weather. We arrived in Perth with a busy schedule to complete. Aside from the usual restocking booze, food, washing etc we had to get the batteries in our van sorted and we had the AFL grand final.
Early Wednesday morning we dragged the van across town to get the batteries replaced and another solar panel installed on the roof. Fortunately they had arrived the previous day from Melbourne. We made a quick stop at a car wash to give the van a well deserved bath. After I managed to get the van in the bay, I realised that I wouldn't be able to drive through the other side, so I had to reverse out of the car wash, luckily there was no traffic around so an easy fix. Then back across town to set up back in the caravan park which was about 10 minutes from Scaarborough. Warren had headed off to play golf at Joondalup. The girls were going to have their hair by Djess the daughter of their cousin who lives in Holland. They booked under false names so as to give Djess a surprise. This is the first time their hair has been done since leaving home in June. I headed across to Joondalup to pick up Warren, what a fantastic looking course this was.
Next day we caught up with Kevin and Daphne who were part owners of UPI (my last job). We had a fantastic day walking through Kings Park and lunching by a nice waterside cafe. We walked over a bridge, in the photos it is black and white, what a coincidence the colours were that of Collingwood, across to the new Optus stadium which is very impressive.
We started planning for Grand Final day, our rough plan was to perhaps go to a pub to watch the game, although Lynette being a Collingwood supporter and us all wanting West Coast to loose, we would have been outnumbered by 1000 to 1. The weather in Perth was a bit rainy and overcast, so not conducive to sitting outside the vans. I got the idea of perhaps going to a golf course to watch the game, so about 40 mins prior to the game I called a nearby golf course. The receptionist explained that there were a quite a few there to watch the game but that they had all left because they couldn't get channel 7 for some reason. I called back in 20 minutes and everything was fixed and good to go, so we headed down there just in time to see the anthem. When we arrived we had this room to ourselves. The room was a function room which could hold 100 people, had full bar and we had it all to ourselves, except for a couple of golfers that drifted in during the last quarter. Although the result wasn't good, we still had a good time.
At the cravan park there were ducks, chicks and black swans meandering throughout the park, with two black swans taking a liking to Jo-anne, bailing her up against the van, was so funny to see.
That evening we went to Scarborough beach and got some amazing sunset shots across the Indian Ocean.
Now time to head further south to Augusta.
