DENMARK
We arrived in Denmark still under cool conditions. This coastal area of WA doesn't seem to stop raining. Whilst it's only a sprinkle here and there, it seems every day it rains. Anyway it's a nice change and we will soon be into warmer weather once we hit Kalgoorlie and the Nullabor.
First on the to do list was Elephant Rocks, these things really do look like elephants and we had a good time exploring the rocks and dunes around this region and also visited Green Pool which was beach with a nice swimming area, the colour of the water was blueish green.
Next we were off to the wineries for some wine tasting. Whilst Margaret River certainly is a known wine region and we are 300 klms east of there, this area does have a lot of wineries and produce world class wines.
ALBANY
We then headed for Albany with a stop along the way at the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk. This is a walk 40 metres up in the tree tops of the giant tingle trees. These trees get up to 70 metres high and a girth of up to 20 metres. They are enormous. We also visited the Natural Arch (a rock formation) and a blow hole which was something different to see.
Next day we visited the Abany Whaling Station. This hasn't operated since 1978, but everything is just as it was and we spent several hours wandering around. It was a great guided tour and was very interesting. The highlight was the 23 metre skeleton of a blue whale, the size of these mammals is staggering. The afternoon was spent at the Anzac War Memorial which was also very interesting.
Warren and I visited the Albany gaol while the girls had some retail therapy. Was interesting wandering around the gaol as they had gathered and displayed some interesting stories of the inmates during the late 1800's.
We managed to get in a couple more National Parks, I think the count is now about 12 National Parks, and we went to Two People Bay. Was a very pretty area but the highlight was this beach called Little Beach. The beach was certainly little but spectacular. The sand was white and pristine and the water was crystal clear, it was just amazing.
