You are all probably totally confused if you read our last blog entry from Fitzroy Crossing, South Australia. Yes we were in Fitzroy Crossing and yes it is in Western Australia! We are not lost, yet!
Our second day at Fitzroy Crossing started with a very relaxing morning and then in the afternoon we went on a picturesque and informative tour of Geickie Gorge. It was run by an aboriginal elder and he told us about some aboriginal family traditions and history of the Gorge.
The next morning after leaving the campsite (about 2 hours later than we planned to leave, as we got talking to a young couple touring around Australia for two years in the back of their car) we set off for Port Smith. Port Smith is about 140klms south of Broome. It is a quiet beach/lagoon camping ground that gave us 3 days to just sit around and relax. The first day was perfect weather and some clouds and showers appeared when we were just getting accustomed to the sun and 30 degree temperatures.
This morning we set off for Broome and arrived in time for lunch after we had set up in a lovely shady caravan park, across the road from Cable Beach-perfect.
After lunch we drove around some of the older parts of Broome. From what we have seen so far we think it is a town we are going to enjoy with lots to do.
Sas, we even found the mango winery and caravan park you talked about when we were planning the trip.
We can't believe it is three weeks today that we left home. So far it has been a lot of driving for Steve but the next two weeks are our beach holiday on the other side of Aus.
Despite early teething troubles we are starting to work out the best way to publish our blogs. Unfortunately, Steve is still missing his I pad as we have been unable to download any apps to mine until we get home. This means we swap so I can type up the blogs on his. The photo at the start of this blog is one Steve took when we were on our tour of Geckie Gorge.
