We awoke this morning after a disturbed night caused by noise from the local's celebrations that seemed to go on all night and occasionally be accompanied by a dog fight somewhere. We started to pack up but got waylaid by a lovely family that we met on our first day on the Tanami and had also caught up with at Sturt Creek when we stayed overnight. They are traveling a similar route to us and have 3 children, one 5 year old and twins that are 18 months old.
Once on the road we had an easy 290 klms drive to Fitzroy Crossing. When we arrived we were three quarters of the way through setting up the Ultimate and realized that there was a sullage pipe and an electrical cord attached to the pole on the site .....bummer... Either someone had forgotten to take them or a motor home had gone out for the day and had not left any other indication they were coming back. Everyone on adjoining sites had just arrived and said for us not to worry but Steve being the sort of caring and sharing person he is decided we needed to hook up the van again and move to another site. By this time another camper was also moving in and they wanted to talk about anything and everything. We were both tired and hungry so tried not to be too rude but kept putting up the camper.(why is it that we can never seem to set up with out someone wanting to have a chat - maybe you did inherit this trait from your Dad, Ian.) We finally escaped to get some lunch, and found the supermarket to restock the pantry to last us until we get to Broome.
We had one last stop for the day,the tourist information service to work out details and times for our tour of Geike Gorge tomorrow. Thanks Jolene for all your help.
We arrived back at the campsite and there was a motor home on the original site we chose so Steve was right. We ended up having drinks with two of our neighbors and are now catching up with a bit of work on the net.
